Three members of the Sasakawa Trust namely Mr.Upali Jayasekara the Chairman, Mr.Chitral Jayawardena the Secretary, and Mr.G. Kulathilake the Treasurer, were honored with the commendations of the Foreign Minister of Japan in recognition of their valuable contributions in promoting Japan and Sri Lanka relations. The Japanese Foreign Minister’s commendations were formally awarded to the three trustees by the Japanese Ambassador at a special ceremony held on the 26th October 2015 at the Ambassadors’ residence in Colombo.

Mr.C.L.de Alwis, the Vice Chairman of Sasakawa Trust was also honored with the commendations of the Foreign Minister of Japan in 2014.

The commendations of the Foreign Minister of Japan were awarded yearly to individuals in other countries for their outstanding achievements in the international field, to appreciate the contributions and efforts made by them to promote friendship between Japan and the respective countries.

The Sasakawa Trust is proud to have four such recognized members from the Government of Japan in the present Management team and that it is a testimony to the strength of the Board of Trustees of the Sasakawa Memorial Sri Lanka Japan Cultural Centre Trust.
